A little bit about myself

My name is Oksana and I came from Ukraine, an open-minded and creative person who can easily get along with everyone. I am a recent graduate from Master’s Program in Specialist Eastern Studies at the University of Warsaw (Studium Europy Wschodniej) and finally I arrived at point in my life where I have to make decisions that are vital for my future and once I knew about EVS I realized that’s it. It is a great opportunity to get involved in social life.

I have got a huge experience by studying abroad in Warsaw University and facing the difficulties and stereotypes which the foreigner may face in other country. I perceived that as a challenge that will make me much more steeled and helped to make up my decision to work on the issue of national stereotyping and tolerance. So that’s in my Master dissertation I have been inquiring into the problems of national stereotyping in Central Europe (on the example of Poles, Czechs, Slovaks and Hungarians).

That is why one of my biggest dreams is to create some project which aim is to promote intercultural tolerance and solidarity among children and youth by making some photo exhibitions or cutting short films about how youth sees the representatives of other cultures and nations.

I try to devote my spare time to my biggest hobby - photography and filming. I usually take my camera everywhere I go to take some unexpected pictures and videos. Besides photography, theater and cinematography have been my big passions for ages. Also I am a rock music appreciator. I can add that I am a big football fan as well, of course I am better in watching than in playing, but I am quite good at table football.

About Lviv

Lviv is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, and its central part is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Lviv history is as colorful and amazing as a city itself. It is filled with interesting events and outstanding figures. Today Lviv is more than 750 years old and it has lots of stories to tell you! City situated on the crossing of two profitable trade routes developed and flourished rapidly and became one of main trade centers of medieval Europe. Afterwards while being a part of different countries, Lviv borrowed some parts of culture and knowledge from invaders. Later on it transformed not only to an architectural gem, but also to the modern capital of scientific, spiritual and artistic life.

Lviv is an extremely attractive tourist area of Ukraine. It is a city of magnificent architectural landmarks: impressive temples and ancient squares, cozy narrow streets, museums and galleries housing artistic masterpieces of different historical epochs.

The city is known as a center of art, literature, music and theatre. Nowadays, the indisputable evidences of the city cultural richness are a big number of theaters, concert halls, creative unions, and also high number of many artistic activities. Temples, frescos, paintings, traditions, feasts, festivals – all these are the heirdom of the past and the product of the present geniuses, which can be felt only in Lviv.

Lviv and coffee are two notions that became one. Perhaps now it’s impossible to imagine old narrow streets without seductive tart aroma that flies out of small windows of cozy cafés and running through the city mysteriously. In the summer Lviv citizens savor coffee sitting outside of cafés, in winter in cozy warm cafés, sluggishly talking about last news of the city.

Lviv is one of the 8 cities that hosted UEFA EURO 2012 – the sport event of the third significance in the world after Summer Olympic Games and World Football Championship. Taking pride in the honor of being one of the host cities Lviv was committed to readily welcome the maximum number of tourists and hold three group stage matches.
